1) Muthanga Wild Life Sanctuary:

Situated in the Nilgiri biosphere, the sanctuary offers the opportunity to view  wild life, including  wild elephants, gaur, spotted deer, sambar, langur, giant squirrels, wild dog, birds, tiger etc. A speciality is 21km safari inside the park (entry time 7a.m to 9 a.m; 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; fee  Rs.60 (for Indians); Rs.150(for foreigners)each + jeep entry fees (Rs.50) +  jeep charges (Rs.400); less than 3:  service charges 100.

2) Tholpetty Sanctuary:

The flora and fauna is similar to Muthanga:  24 km safari in the park

3) Wild Life Trekking:

4-5 hours trek inside the wild life sanctuaries; advance booking required; entry 8 a.m.; fee Rs.1500 + 150 (foreigners); Rs.60 (Indians) each. (for group 1 to 5 people)

4) Bird Watching:

Tourists are taken through forests to see 235 varieties of birds, including wood pecker, scarlet minivet, hornbill , bee eater, king-fisher, black drongo, barbet, oriole, pittas, bulbul.

5) Village Walk

Taking a walk through the countryside of Wayanad can be exhilarating. You can meet and interact with village folk, view spice plantations, tribal settlements, earthenware units, farms and much more.

6) Chembra Peak:

Highest peak (2100 meters) in Wayanad, blessed with a heart-shaped small lake at the top: entry 7.30 a.m. to 2 p.m.; fee Rs 500 (Indians)up to 10 person ; Rs.1000 (foreigners)up to 4 person; extra Rs.200.

7) Meenmutty Falls

The biggest water fall in Wayanad ; 2 km arduous trek through the forest; entry 7.30 a.m. to 4 p.m.; fees Rs. 300 (Indians; Rs. 600 (foreigners).for group 1 to 10 person

8) Edakkal Cave

Pre-historic caves dating back to the Neolithic age; cave engravings dating between 4000 B.C. and 1000 B.C.; entry 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; fees Rs.15 per head.

9) Pookot Lake

Natural fresh water lake set in the heart of ever green forest: entry 9 a.m to 5 p.m.; fees Rs.15 per head

10) Sentinel Rock Falls (soochippara water falls):

Popular holiday destination. 1.2 km trek; entry 8 a.m. to 5 .30 p.m.; fee Rs.20 (Indians); Rs.40 (foreigners)

11 ) Kuruva Island:

Virgin forest spread over 950 acres in the middle of river Kabani. There is one main island and 25 islets; entry 9 p.m. to 3.30 p.m.; fees: Rs.20 (Indians; Rs. 40 (foreigners).

13) Tribals

Meet the tribal people, original inhabitants of Wayanad; most of them are forest dwellers, such as Paniyas, Kurumas, Adiyas, Kurichyas, Ooralis, Kattunaikkas.

14) Kanthampara Fall

Small, but lovely water fall; 200 meter walk.

15 ) Sun Rise Valley

19) Pakshipathalam

Located deep within the forest in the Brahmagiri hills at an altitude of 1700 metres, the spot is famous for rare flora and fauna; entry 8. a.m.; fee Rs. 800 (Indians); Rs. 1600 (foreigners).up to 5 person

A 13th century Jain temple famous for stone pillars and carvings.

Centre specialising in innovative bamboo products

22) Phantom Rock

Named because of its skull shape.

23 ) Muniyara

A series of ancient burial vaults.

24 ) Trisseilery Temple

This temple famous for its perfect architectural proportions is linked to the Thirunelly temple.

25 ) Papanasini

A dip in the pool of Papanasisni stream in Thirunelly near the famous temple is believed to wash away all sins..

26 ) Chain Tree

A large tree of the ficus species with an iron chain tied to a branch, associated with a local myth.

The hillock offers a breath-taking view of the Meenmutty water falls and surroundings; 1 k.m trek to the top.
