Wayanad Tourist Information
- (1) Wayanad wildlife sanctuaries (Muthanga and Tholpetty) are opened.
- (2) Meenmutty waterfall (near Vaduvanchal) is partly closed, (Contact: 04936-282001). Meenmutty waterfall (near Banasura dam) is opened.
- (3) Edakkal cave is opened, Entry time is 8:30 a.m to 4 p.m, but they may close cave and entry when reaching maximum (1920 visitors) a day. (Edakkal Cave will be closed on Mondays, January 26th, May 1st, August 15th, October 2nd, and on Thiruvonam, also cave will be closed during heavy rains and thunder. Contact: 9446052134).
- (4) Banasura dam and Kanthampara waterfall are opened.
- (5) Kuruva Island is opened (Maximum 1050 visitors a day, 525 each at both entry counters. It may close during fire season/heavy rain and when wild elephants enter the Island. - (6) Chembra peak is opened (Entry time 7 a.m to 12 noon for trekking, Maximum 200 visitors a day. Visiting time up to watchtower 7 a.m to 4 p.m. Trek to Chembra, only halfway (up to lake). Trek to the top is restricted. It is better to keep your phone off when you are on top of hills during lightning. Contact: 9947896008). There may be leeches in the forest during the rainy season.
- (7) Weekends and holidays will be crowded in Wayanad.
- (8) Pakshipathalam trek is partly closed. Banasura peak is opened.

- (10) Students may get a concession if they submit an official letter from the school.
- (11) Some destinations may be closed during heavy rains, fire, or for any other reasons.

Transportation
Commonly, jeeps are used in hill stations, especially in wildlife parks. Open jeeps are available, with driver and driver-cum-guide. Both A/C and non-A/C cars and other vehicles are available here.
